2002 Land Rover Discovery II “Kalahari Edition” with 103,000 miles
The Land Rover Discovery II “Kalahari” is a Land Rover descendant of a true competition vehicle from Land Rover. This special edition was built from factory to be unstoppable in any terrain. This specific example has been kept entirely stock from its owner and began its life in California. This means the frame features no rust and is in excellent condition and when it moved to the east coast, Waxoyl was applied to prevent any future rust. The Kalahari boasts a range of exclusive features both inside and out. On the exterior, it sports a distinctive Borrego Yellow paint scheme, complemented by a headlamp and grille surround. The paint does feature some wear from its 22 years of life but it makes for a beautiful patina. The front bumper and grille are finished in black. Additional exterior highlights include a black steel wraparound brush bar, lamp guards, rear ladder, and 16-inch "Typhoon"-style alloy wheels featuring gunmetal painted spokes and polished outer rims. Some rust can be found on the black steel brush bar and the Safari Gard side skirt mounts, but the rest of the vehicle is rust-free. The Special Vehicle badge on the rear reminds you that you are driving a 1/150 vehicle in the United States.
Inside, the Discovery Series II Kalahari you’ll find the Smokestone Gray instrument panel and interior panels. Black Duragrain seating surfaces featuring "Tetra" technical fabric and Ash Gray outer panels provide a comfortable and stylish cabin environment. This example has an upgraded entertainment system featuring a Pioneer Bluetooth and touchscreen display. However, the original AM/FM/Cassette stereo is available should you want full originality. There is slight wear on the interior with a rip in the driver’s seat, but the rest is in excellent condition with heated seats, sunroofs, windows, and all other electronics working.
Aside from being completely stock, the Kalahari has very low miles with 103,000 miles on the odometer. It has been meticulously cared for mechanically and owned by two Land Rover enthusiasts with continuous maintenance at INDEPENDENT since 2014. Major jobs include the replacement of the Front Differential, Front Driveshaft, Passenger Front ABS Wheel Speed Sensor / Hub Sensor / Speed Sensor Ring, Exhaust manifold, and replacement of Rear Calipers, Pads, Rotors, and Hosess. The Intake has been resealed as well as the Rear Cross Seal and Oil Pan Reseal. In August of 2023, the vehicle underwent a major service.
This is an excellent opportunity to own one of the rarer Land Rovers available, and one that is in good condition.
