Compensation: $80k-$130k+

Position Summary:

As a Service Technician, you are responsible for performing diagnostics and repairs for our customer’s vehicles ethically and efficiently.


You’re responsible for maintaining a level of production to ensure shop profitability. You are to address any customer vehicle concerns, as well as fully inspect vehicles utilizing our digital inspection reporting tool and providing all necessary information to the sales department to relay to the customer. You are also responsible for performing any services and/or repairs the customer requests and will also perform follow-up communication with our customers via thank you cards and phone calls.

Ultimately, a successful Service Technician will provide the sales department with all the information they need to communicate to our customers effectively and provide our customers with quality and dependable service for their vehicles while helping build a relationship based on trust and transparency.

Objectives:

  • Maintain a professional appearance

  • Maintain a clean workspace including toolboxes, bay areas, equipment and supply areas

  • Attend and participate in all shop meetings

  • Ensure that all customers are greeted promptly and directed to the front office

  • Diagnose the cause of customer concerns and/or vehicle malfunctions

  • Examine vehicles to determine if further safety or service work is required or recommended

  • Complete electronic inspection reports including photographs and videos

  • Perform work as outlined on repair orders with efficiency and accuracy

  • Communicate with the Service Advisor if additional work is needed, if the work outlined is not needed, or if repairs cannot be completed within the promised time

  • Document all work performed and recommended on repair orders

  • Road test vehicles when required or refer to the test technician

  • Ensure that customer cars are kept clean. Notify the Service Advisor immediately of anything that has happened to change the appearance or condition of a vehicle

  • Maintain all shop-owned tools and manuals. Return them to the proper place and in the same condition as they were received

  • Operate all tools and equipment in a safe manner

  • Participate in all training programs that are made available

Competencies:

  • Ability to read write and interpret documents such as reports, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, business correspondence and procedure manuals

  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization

  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume

  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written, diagram, or oral instructions

  • Ability to use shop tools and equipment such as vehicle lifts, tire mounting and balancing machines, alignment machines, tablets and computers for electronic vehicle inspections


Education, Certifications & Experience:

  • Two or more years related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Valid government-issued driver’s license

  • ASE & other technical certifications preferred but not required


Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift, pull or push heavy objects

  • Prolonged periods of standing while inspecting and servicing vehicles

  • $80k-$130k+ annually depending on experience/skill level
